Times are changing, and so is the way people consume news. People have grown accustomed to receiving information directly, clearly, and simply. As a result, the media landscape is evolving, and digital media is exploring new avenues. Yet the fundamental principles of journalism—bringing public issues to light, questioning those in power, and communicating facts to society—remain unchanged. Built on these values, Akshara Today Digital is making its own mark in Telugu digital journalism.

Launched on September 3, 2023, Akshara Today quickly connected with Telugu readers. Founded under the leadership of senior journalist Vittam Vijay from Nizamabad, this web news portal has brought thousands of stories to its readers over the past three years and built a readership numbering in the hundreds of thousands.

Public Issues at the Centre

Beyond delivering news, Akshara Today distinguishes itself by giving a voice to public concerns. It highlights local problems, identifies shortcomings in governance, and questions the government authorities concerned. Guided by the belief that “It is not enough to highlight a problem; we must also seek a solution,” it provides a platform for the issues people face. From villages to towns and cities, it brings readers stories about everyday challenges, the implementation of government schemes, administrative practices, and social issues, striving to reflect public opinion.

From Local to Global

Akshara Today’s coverage extends well beyond local affairs. Alongside important developments in Telangana and across the Telugu states, it keeps readers informed about national and international events. Its coverage spans politics, commerce, and natural disasters—including earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, floods, and cyclones—as well as entertainment, devotion, spirituality, astrology, horoscopes, business, technology, education, and employment opportunities. It has expanded its content to bring information from many different spheres together on a single platform.

Beyond the Telugu States: A Worldwide Readership

Akshara Today has readers and viewers not only in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh but also in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, the Gulf countries, and other regions. This international audience reflects its reach in digital journalism. For Telugu people living away from home who want to stay connected with news from their hometowns, Akshara Today has become an accessible digital platform.

From Web News to Digital Media

Recognising changing audience preferences, Akshara Today took its journey a step further by launching Akshara Today Digital Media on August 15, 2026. It expanded its digital media operations from Madhapur–HITEC City in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana. Through platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, X, and Facebook, it brings timely information to the public at speed. Its digital journey aims to connect with everyone—from readers of written news and viewers of video content to a new generation that follows information on social media.

The organisation also has a print media presence. Kouchika Alekhya serves as publisher, while Vittam Vijay continues as editor. It has Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, and monthly editions, with the RNI numbers listed as TELTEL/2015/62326, TELTEL/2015/64160, 132977 APTEL/2015/60422.

Three Years of Progress: Moving Forward with Greater Responsibility

What began as an idea on September 3, 2023, has grown into a news platform over the course of three years. Through thousands of news stories, Akshara Today has reached hundreds of thousands of readers. It continues to respond to public concerns, question governance, and provide information that society needs. Having expanded beyond web news into the broader digital media space, Akshara Today now has an even wider journey ahead. On the occasion of its anniversary on September 3, it extends heartfelt thanks to its readers, viewers, and well-wishers for their continued support.
